Nuclear radiation effects on surface acoustic wave devices

A comprehensive summary of the effects of pulsed ionizing radiation on the operation of several types of passive surface acoustic wave devices is presented. Three distinct types of malfunction were observed and are discussed in detail. In addition, the effects of neutron and ⁶⁰Co gamma permanent displacement damage on the operation of a monolithic SAW amplifier are presented.
