Abstract :
Dielectric-barrier discharge is an important method to produce nonthermal plasma and can be produced by an alternating-current (ac) or pulsed power source. In this paper, by using two power supplies including a 40-kHz ac power source and a 1-kHz unipolar nanosecond-pulsed power of a rise time of 40 ns and a duration of 70 ns, the discharges in open air are created using two liquid electrodes. Images under different conditions are presented for a brief comparison of ac and nanosecond-pulsed excitations.
