Abstract :
The sensitivity and the spatial resolution of the ECAT EXACT HR +, a 3D PET scanner from Siemens/CTI, were analyzed with reference to adjustable data acquisition parameters. The standard protocol of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) was followed with a minor modification. The performance was shown to depend on the parameters prominently in the 3D mode. The advantages and disadvantages of altering the parameters were discussed. It was concluded that the data acquisition parameters should be carefully selected for a specific clinical situation in order to maximize the efficiency of PET measurement
