Abstract :
The P/AR rating is based on the ratio of the measured peak and full-wave rectified average values of a special test waveform. This study re-examines the P/AR concept as specified by Bell Laboratories along with variant forms of that concept. The results show that in the case of the Bell implementation, poor correlation exists between P/AR ratings and bandwidths as estimated on the basis of standard filtering elements. A modified form of the test is shown to yield a P/AR value that is maximum for the unperturbed signal. The results also show that in some cases, an improved correlation exists between P/AR rating and bandwidth for modified forms of the test.
