Abstract :
A peak and valley detector is introduced. The detector utilizes a delay element and a comparator. This concept is applicable to both analog and digital signals. The analog and digital realizations of the concept are presented. A flow diagram for software realization is introduced. The concept of using a unity-gain amplifier as a delay element yielding at the same time enough attenuation so that if the signals are constant the detector would still operate, is introduced.
