Abstract :
When I was an undergraduate at the University of Missouri (Columbia campus), nearly 20 years ago, I recall being strongly persuaded by a certain faculty member to attend student IEEE meetings and presentations. His tactics were rather effective since he took roll at these meetings. If a sizable number of students in his class were absent, he would pop quizzes the next day. Needless to say, attendance flourished, as he managed to move some of us through the “What´s this IEEE?” fog.
