Abstract :
The bifurcation phenomena in a current-mode controlled buck converter has been explored when the input of the converter is a rectifier having ripple in the output voltage instead of a regulated ideal dc power supply. A comparison between the two different input conditions shows a wide variation in most of the cases and it is difficult to predict the converter dynamics observing bifurcation diagram only. The mathematical model is developed in continuous conduction mode as well as in discontinuous conduction mode. The switching delay has been considered as its effect has great influence on bifurcation phenomena specially at higher switching frequency of the converter. The observed bifurcation phenomena have been verified experimentally.
