Abstract :
Reports the fabrication and performance characteristics of a gain-guided coupled distributed feedback laser array. The five-emitter lasers have threshold currents in the range of 300 to 500 mA and emit in a single wavelength with a single-lobed far field. Single-wavelength output powers of ~120 mW have been observed. The authors believe the frequency selective feedback provided by the diffraction grating helps in coherent coupling between the array elements, which results in a single-lobed far field
