  • Abstract
So you are going out into the cold, cruel world of industry and commerce to make your fortune. Great! And good luck! The success and good name of our profession is built upon the success and prosperity of its individual members, so the advice I am about to offer is aimed at the entire profession, as well as you as an individual. To begin with, let´s define our terms. The success I´m talking about is what might be referred to as “corporate success.” It is, basically, material success, the kind that brings with it promotions, raises, recognition, and all the other trappings of “getting up in the world.” It may or may not coincide with your personal definition of success, but for our purpose let´s just say you can have corporate success without personal success or vice versa, but the goal should be to achieve both.
