Abstract :
We present comparisons between different kinds of transverse flux linear motor (TFLM) with various configurations of permanent magnet (PM) including without PM, side PM, and full PM in its structure. We compare one-phase and three-phase systems. All the comparisons are based on the thrust force and normal force that are derived from using the three-dimensional equivalent magnetic circuit network method. Models with side PM and three phases offer good performance of TFLM in terms of thrust force and normal force. The experimental results show good agreement with the analytic results.
