Unification through registration: Unification of the profession through registration will help clear the confusion about what constitutes the practice of engineering

We as engineers are at a crossroad. Our profession is in decline. There is much talk that our inventions cause strife, that we provide the communications channels for too much “junk” in the entertainment area. In addition, more and more nonengineers are making important engineering decisions. In the personal arena, the salary advantage that engineers once enjoyed is rapidly eroding.
