Abstract
Results are presented of a study of the flashover voltage characteristics under steep-front, short-duration, pulse application to single-distribution-class insulators, wood crossarms, and certain combinations of insulators and wood crossarms under dry and wet conditions with both positive and negative polarities. A discussion of the results follows the data, and a comparison with CFO (critical flashover) voltage for lightning impulses is given. The role of wood in composite insulation for steep-front is shown
