Abstract :
Small-aperture dielectric disk antenna with the off-axis excitation and additional passive dipoles introduced in the antenna configuration is proposed. Numerical modeling of antenna performance points out the possibility of realizing the relatively narrow radiation pattern in the axial direction. Based on the results of simulations the appropriate antenna prototype has been manufactured and tested. The results of experimental studies are as follows: the antenna bandwidth does not exceed 20%; beamwidth of the radiation pattern in both principal planes are 28° and 40°, respectively. At that, the elevation angle of peak directivity is oriented in the antenna axis. The proposed antenna can be used in different wireless communication systems allowing for improving the power characteristics of dielectric resonant antennas.
