Abstract :
The refinement of the fabrication technique for prepolished asymmetric couplers in single-mode fibres is described. Low loss (<0.1 dB) 50/50 splitters are routinely produced which are wavelength flat over the range from 1.3 mu m to 1.55 mu m.
