Abstract :
A trapezoid monopole antenna with a band-notched performance for UWB is presented. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a 1.6 mm-thick FR-4 substrate with a relative permittivity of 4.2 and a loss tangent of 0.02. The VSWR of the proposed antenna is measured and then compared with simulated results. The measured parameters are in agreement with the simulation results, and the antenna offers an excellent performance for UWB systems ranging from 3.0 to 12.0 GHz. The inverted-U shaped slot rejects the frequency band of WLAN (5.15 5.825 GHz). The proposed antenna creates a monopole-like pattern in the E-plane and an omnidirectional radiation pattern in the H-plane.
