Abstract :
Typical power delay profiles (PDPs) are simulated using different digital modulation schemes in order to study the influence of the PDP shape on the bit error rate (BER) performance of terrestrial mobile radio communication systems. Therefore, a multitap channel model with Rayleigh and lognormal fading is proposed, which is used for a software simulation. The simulation is focused on the investigation of typical details of the PDP as peaks, slope, attenuation, and distance of a second group of waves. This yields information about the properties, which have essential effects on the BER. Two of the most frequently applied types of modulation schemes, 0.3 GMSK (coherent detection) and π/4 DQPSK, are considered
