Abstract :
The quality of the dispersion-allocated (D-A) soliton is experimentally and numerically compared with RZ and NRZ pulses at zero group velocity dispersion (GVD). It is shown that the D-A soliton has the best performance in terms of transmission distance. The maximum transmission distance of the RZ pulse transmission is dependent on the dispersion allocation which indicates that it can be extended by the soliton effect in an anomalous GVD fibre. The analyses were confirmed experimentally using 1.3 μm singlemode fibres and dispersion compensation fibres
