  • Abstract
I replaced the telephone receiver. My thoughts raced “Student Editor of Potentials ? Me?” I had just been offered the position. I was in some sort of stupor — half of me was excited, the other half expecting the dream to end with a thundering jolt. But it never happened. As a matter of fact, the only jolt I felt occurred a few weeks later when my plane landed at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. It was there, at the international headquarters of the IEEE, that I got my first real introduction to the inner workings of Potentials. And it was also there that I was impressed by the fact that everyone associated with Potentials, from the dedicated volunteer Editors to the permanent members of the IEEE staff, had as their primary goal the publication of a magazine which would be both entertaining and informative to you.
