EE at work: Teaching, researching and self satisfaction: This professional chose the freedom of the intellectual environment over employment in the private sector

“Freedom” is Wayne Johnson´s reason for acquiring a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and teaching on the college level rather than working in the private sector. “I could be earning more outside,” he says, “but I like being around the technical and intellectual environment of a college. I want freedom to teach, do research and still have freedom with my time.”
