Abstract
This letter presents novel designs of reconfigurable sensing antennas (RSAs) for wireless temperature monitoring. Thermal switches are utilized as control units of reconfigurable dipole antennas, and their statuses of on and off determine the antennas´ characteristics. From the scattering features of the antennas, whether the temperature exceeds specific thresholds or not can be readily monitored in a remote distance. Two antenna prototypes are fabricated, and the measured results demonstrate the effectiveness of the RSA designs in monitoring environment temperatures.
