Abstract :
A model for time domain simulation of lossy coupled lines is presented, which can be composed of standard elements of SPICE (R,C,T,E and F elements). Multiple coupled lines are not divided into sections to reduce the number of breakpoints within the time domain analysis. Losses are assumed to be independent of frequency. This is a good approximation in the case of quasi-TEM propagation without the skin effect (thin metal lines and frequencies <5 GHz). Implementing the model into the source code of SPICE together with some modifications results in a good computing performance of nonlinear circuits with cross-talk effects within interconnections.
