  • Abstract
The most important marketing event for careerbased individuals is the job interview. To help identify what it takes to have a successful interview, I emailed a friend of mine who´s a senior executive (a division president). This person gets a job offer after practically every interview. He told me that his success stems from his eagerness to get the job, educational background and professional experience, and preparedness. I interpret this recipe for success as follows. If you´re eager to get the job (or at least eager to get a job offer to expand your options), you´re motivated to put a conscientious effort into marketing yourself for the position. To enhance your marketing effort, you put a positive spin on your education and professional experience and do a good job preparing for the interview. In short, a successful job interview is a fully prepared and well-executed marketing task.
