Abstract :
A SmCo5 permanent magnet periodic structure was developed to generate a sinusoidal space-varying magnetic field. This device was designed to be utilized in the wiggler of a infrared free-electron laser. To design the structure, finite-element computer codes that calculate magnetic fields in two and three dimensions were utilized. The results obtained from computer simulations and the mechanical design of the built structure are presented
