Abstract
We designed superconducting rectangular patch antennas which have a resonance frequency of 5 GHz and an input-impedance of 50 /spl Omega/. We used the transmission line model and the moment method to determine this patch antenna´s geometric form. We also fabricated the superconducting patch antennas of YBa2C3O7-y (YBCO) thin films and Cu films. The YBCO films were prepared by Helicon sputtering method. The input impedance and return loss of the YBCO patch antennas at 19 K were 50 /spl Omega/ and -35 dB, respectively. The return loss of the YBCO patch antenna was smaller than that of Cu patch antenna with the same geometry.
