Abstract :
Aimed today at consumer electronics applications, the author describes FireWire, a fast, cheap, self-configuring serial bus which may eventually consign parallel buses to the scrap heap of history. Flexibility and ease of use are among the bus´s strongest points. A device may be plugged into any other conveniently located device-whether energised or not-just so long as no closed loops are formed
