Abstract :
A 16 channel 2.5 Gbit/s WDM transmission experiment over 9000 km has been carried out by using gain equalised amplifier repeaters with 70 km spacing. The usable bandwidth for the data is 7.5 nm with a small amount of pre-emphasis in the transmitter and a measured Q-factor of ~16 dB on an average over 16 channels
