Abstract
Pole-placement algorithms can be ill conditioned, if the desired closed-loop poles are not appropriately chosen with respect to the open-loop poles. The algorithm used in the paper automatically adjusts the closed-loop poles (within defined limits), to ensure a well conditioned design equation. This facility is particularly useful with adaptive controllers which do not evaluate open-loop poles.
