Abstract :
Career advancement for engineers as the number of promotional positions, both managerial and technical, are becoming fewer is addressed. The technical ladder, which offers an alternative to the traditional managerial ladder for engineering career advancement, is described. It is argued that the technical ladder is an important tool for personal growth is used correctly, and ways of doing so are examined.<>
