Abstract
Digital signal processing (DSP) software packages are surveyed. The tools fall into two distinct categories, which correspond to the two main branches of digital signal processing: packages whose jobs are mainly signal acquisition and manipulation, and DSP programming environments. General-purpose math packages, which manipulate vectors and matrices, and can therefore perform signal processing, are also available. Digital filter design, coefficient quantization, real-time filter implementation, and code generators are discussed. A table listing the features of representative DSP packages for PCs is provided.<>
