Abstract
In the paper, we introduce a new formalism to study noise enhancement induced by parametric gain in wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) systems. We also analyze the phenomenon impact in a typical long-haul, dispersion-compensated link, and show its peculiar relevance in WDM systems.
