Abstract :
Hg-1212 thick films were fabricated using three methods to deposit the precursor film. It was found that the uniformity of the superconducting film is directly related to the uniformity of the precursor film. Significant thickness variations in the precursor film could, not be entirely eliminated by the subsequent melting and densification occurring during Hg-1212 phase formation. We conclude that deposition of a high quality precursor film is essential to produce a textured superconducting film with good coverage.
