Jordan J. Baruch (F), Commerce Department Assistant Secretary for Science and Technology, is urging closer Government-industry cooperation to meet the threat of foreign competition in high-technology products. Testifying before the House Subcommittee on Science, Research and Technology, he said Commerce is formulating a Cooperative Technology Program in response to efforts by other governments to boost the competitiveness of their industry.
