Abstract :
Algorithms for computing the distance from a particular controllable system to the closest uncontrollable system are presented. The authors give an interpretation of the problem and propose solutions in the form of several linearly convergent iterative algorithms. The algorithms are presented for the real and complex perturbation problems, i.e. when the real system under investigation is subject to either real or complex perturbations
