Abstract
In classical electromagnetics the interaction between charged particles and electric circuits in relative motion ought to conserve both momentum and energy. The paper examines a hypothetical `toroidal generator´ in which a charged particle is fired along the major axis and through a toroidal coil. By keeping the speeds low, and keeping the geometry simple, and by considering a resistive coil, it is possible to keep account of all the flows of energy and momentum, in and out of the components of the system and through the surrounding fields
