Abstract :
Second order approximate impedance boundary conditions are developed for an isotropic multilayered media backed by a metal surface. The single and double layer cases are analysed to determine the order of terms appearing in a general impedance expression. The resulting impedance boundary conditions are written out in a recursive form where the equivalent impedance of a set of n layers is a function of the equivalent impedance of n-1 layers
