Abstract
A method of characterizing the time-domain response of a second-order system to step function by dynamic parameter estimation is presented. The method uses digitized samples of the input signal and does not require a priori information about step function amplitude, damping ratio, and angular natural frequency. Mathematical development of the algorithm is presented and its accuracy is illustrated in digital simulation studied
