Abstract :
The hardware reliability of telecommunications systems is subject to extremely stringent demands. A computer-based quality information system used to record field experience with digital switching systems in use throughout the world is described. The evaluation and use of the field data are discussed, and methods of failure rate prediction are examined. These approaches are compared to predictions made using the standard SN 29500 for some typical integrated circuits
