Abstract :
The fault-tolerance techniques applied to the NEAX61 digital switching system are described, focusing on its operation modes, fault detection systems, abnormality supervision, and system restart functions. Also discussed is the improved field performance of NEAX61 systems over three years in terms of service interruptions, which were reduced as a result of quality improvement activities. Methods to further improve system availability are described
