Abstract :
Presents a new, entirely analytic solution for the magnetic field of a thin-film head of arbitrary dimensions in the presence of a soft magnetic underlayer. The magnetic potential on each pole is assumed to be a known constant. Fourier coefficients and field components are given for two particular cases of practical interest. The paper demonstrates the accuracy of approximations that require no Fourier coefficients, but that must be evaluated numerically
