Abstract :
A method for calculating the return loss of a non-homogeneous transmission system is presented. The developed equation permits the investigation of the effects of system irregularity, impedance mismatching and the mismatching of both load and source termination. The approach is then illustrated by results obtained for a multi-segment transmission channel at a range of frequencies and validated against both a standard equation and measurements
