Abstract :
Dispersion compensation via mid-span spectral inversion is demonstrated for the first time in a semiconductor optical amplifier monolithically integrated with a distributed feedback pump laser. A 40 Gbit/s signal is successfully transmitted over a span of more than 100 km of standard fibre
