Abstract :
A novel integrated polarisation beam splitter on a silica-based planar lightwave circuit that utilises the waveguide birefringence dependence on waveguide core width is proposed. It was successfully confirmed that the fabricated splitter has a polarisation extinction ratio of >21 dB over a wide wavelength range of 1530 to 1620 nm
