Abstract
The paper gives calculations of losses in a cylindrical conductor under chopped impulse currents with the transient skin effect taken into account. Both total losses and losses at the surface layer of the conductor are considered. In addition, the interrelation between these losses is shown. Expressions for chopped impulse currents in the form of dual-exponential waves and in the form of decaying sine waves are presented. The effect of chopping the impulses is examined numerically
