Abstract :
The use of coherent electrical detection in subcarrier modulated MMF links is shown for the first time to provide sufficient enhancement in receiver sensitivity to compensate fully for excess passband loss. This allows subcarrier modulated MMF links to be operated without effect on the link power budget.
