Abstract :
This paper presents the real-time implementation of a conjugate structure-algebraic CELP (CS-ACELP) speech coder which has been chosen as the 8 kb/s speech coder standard (G.729) by ITU-T. The algorithm delivers high speech quality under most of operating conditions. The principles of the G.729 algorithm and the real-time implementation of the algorithm on a 16-bit fixed point DSP chip are addressed. This paper also discusses the DSP H/W module design for speech coders in an infra sub-system and subscriber unit within the CDMA IMT-2000 test-bed system
