Abstract :
Digital Light ProcessingTM (DLPTM) technology is applied to a consumer multimedia HDTV prototype. The DLP technology enables an all-digital display system that inputs the initial digital data, performs digital video processing and displays the processed data in digital form. No analog data conversion and processing are necessary from image creation to display. The result is bright, crisp images with visibly superior picture quality. This paper describes the architecture of the all-digital HDTV projection system and the video signal processing techniques from initial signal input to the final display on a 1280×720 Digital Micro-mirror DeviceTM (DMDTM)
