Abstract :
We derive a relationship between quality of data reconstruction, data transmission rate, and integration decay rate for a stochastic transmitter and integrating receiver. This relationship can be used to quantify frame and directly compare the efficiencies of scanned and address-event data representations. We find that high quality reconstruction of stochastic data requires time and dynamic range at the receiver, but a stochastic representation can provide advantages over scanning for some applications. As an example, we provide the design of a simple receiver based on these results
