Abstract :
This study aims to develop a database utilized for assessing the synthetic power production combined with wind and wind-generated wave energy resources. The procedure of data extraction and classification is a key factor in determining the accuracy and quality of growing seas. Subsequently, this research suggests a well-calibrated wind-wave model based on the Texel-Marsen-Arsloe (TMA) spectrum, which is applied to calculate the growing seas with the variation of wind scales. According to the distribution of directional wind and wave data at varying locations, it is evident that an annual monsoon plays a vital part in determining wind resources and growing seas. Empirical formulas used for forecasting significant wave heights and energy periods are obtained by considering relationships with wind speeds. The ocean climate around Taiwan is selected for analysis. The assessment of wind and wind-generated wave power through a year is carried out by obtaining the wind data, together with giving a rational range of wind speeds derived from Rayleigh distribution. Conclusively, Penghu sea area is found to be an optimal place for synthetic power production by evaluating its annual wind energy, wind-generated wave energy as well as swell energy.
