  • Abstract
The contemporary paper describes the effective lighting system which can be efficiently used for surface mines using green energy and it also compares fluorescent lighting system with yesteryear´s lighting system. Although Incandescent lamps are phased out their construction and operation provides good foundation for understanding other technologies. The requirements of lighting systems, luminaire characteristics, and light distribution diagrams along with principles of haul road lighting are deliberated. In the present scheme of operation high frequency is applied across the damaged fluorescent light to ignite. During this procedure the power transistor gets more heat since of high frequency. In order to protect the system heat sink is very much necessary.
