Abstract :
A procedure for determining fault voltages and currents along a multiconductor line with a multigrounded neutral conductor is described. The procedure utilizes a conventional open-circuit impedance matrix approach for the representation of the power line at the fault and provides a new method for determining the elements which are derived in terms of basic system parameters and two-port impedances of a neutral ladder network. This network is determined by the grounded neutral conductor of the line in the absence of coupling to the phase conductors. All calculations necessary to obtain the voltages and currents in the specified multiconductor geometry are shown to be confined to this neutral ladder. As an example, an analysis of a faulted, double-fed, three-phase line is provided
